30 Words Thursday

Remember this song?
I am showing my age but I loved this song as a kid.
But this doesn't belong to me. It's belongs to our 22 year old son!

Funny how that happens. Our son has a lot of albums from my era.

Focus on Life Celebrating Sweetness

In 1996 we built our house on what was farm ground.
That meant no trees at all. We got busy planting lots of trees and caring for them.
It was nice to see them grow but what I really wanted was for bird nests.
It took a  very long time for the trees to grow and in the last  two or three years we have had several nests.
I have enjoyed watching the mama birds protecting their young, swooping at our heads when we got too close. It's been fun to see  them grow and learn to fly.

The tiny red lampwork spacer beads are from Marshall Jodie.
I finished them off with two brass stars from Vintaj.

Be sure to visit the Earrings Everyday Blog  Friday to see more.

Heather and Lorelie's Michaels Challenge

Heather and Loreli hosted a Michaels Challenge.
These are the beads that we are to use.
Unfortunately our Michaels store was out of most of these beads. The only ones I managed to get were the last two and tried to match the others as best I could.
We could add beads from our own stash as well.
So her are the pieces I made
It seems I was in a mood for color and the tropics.

Focus on Life In Season

Shasta Daisies  They suffered the last few years from drought but there are a few left. I hope to plant more in the fall

A soybean field just across the road from our house.

I tried to capture a photo of  a horsefly but I wasn't fast enough. I really dislike them!

Check out Sally's blog to see more of what's in season.

30 Words Thursday

Graceful
Floating without a care
Otherworldly
Mysterious with their gelatinous bodies and dangling tentacles
Not really a fish, they are plankton.
Mostly made of water
No brain or bones.

Focus On Life Celebrate

Our assignment this week is Celebrate.

Celebrating farm life, gourmet food, and Kansas!
Kansas gets a bad rap sometimes, but there is nothing better than eating fabulous food in a corm field.
I grew up in the country where we splashed around in creeks, and the summers were long and lazy. Weekends were always about church, family and country drives.
It can't get any better.
