52 Photos-Out and About

52 week badge
Our assignment this week was to get outside and take our camera with us. Of course the only day I could do this was a rainy day, so I drove rather than walked.

This church has been in our community for a long time.  Unfortunately it was not cared for properly and became unsafe.

They don't build churches like this anymore, and that saddens me.  The congregation built another church right behind this one.  It is a metal building. Now there are trees  and vines growing and choking this old building.

Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three are gathered in my name, there will I be also.

Thanks for stopping by.  Please visit Sally's Blog to see more.

this is a beautiful old church! it's a shame they couldn't maintain it, but i'm glad they left it standing - it's fading so gracefully... very atmospheric!

What a shame to let such a beautiful old building go to ruin. How sad.

I love these old buildings, and even more so when someone has maintained them! The workmanship is so beautiful. We bought an old house that needs lots of love. It is work, but I prefer the character

I love weathered old buildings, the character in the wood is just so pretty.

We have a very old church in our community that has been maaintained by a community group, and is now a public museum and meeting place. Maybe they can do that with this one?

What a beautiful old church. It has such grace and character. I wonder why the congregation couldn't maintain it but can maintain a new building. Very sad.

Beautiful image of the church - love the weathered and aged beauty! Love the different textures you captured!

Oh, how beautiful and how sad! Someone with a bit of $$ could probably fix it up beautifully...but I'm glad you let us see!

Oh how sad that they weren't able to rehabilitate it. Times change I guess, but certainly not for the better in this case. I bet it has beautiful details inside.

I wonder what it looked like in its heyday? It's very beautiful now under the peeling paint and weathered wood.

What a shame. That mindset is so prevalent these days. But it is beautiful! I love old buildings, if only they could talk!!!!!

Oh, such beauty in this old Church. Sad that they built a new one, but glad they left the original - they just don't make 'em like that anymore at all, do they?!

We live in a throw-away society... food, objects, buildings, even people are seen as disposable. How have we gone so wrong?
