52 Weeks Shadows

52 week badge
This week is all about shadows.
To get a shadow one must first have light.
Visible light spreads out in waves as it leaves its source. These waves travel in straight lines through the air until they hit an object. The object will absorb some of the waves and reflect some back into the air. Behind any object that has stopped the light waves is a dark spot, or shadow, which is simply a space where no light is.
Information from Answers.com
My husband painted a movie screen on a wall in our basement so we could watch movies, play games etc. with our projector. It was well worth the cost of the projector and we have used it more times than I can count. Surround sound gives us an 'at the movie experience'.
This is me taking  a photo of my own shadow against the painted screen.
In order to get it completely dark we put up black curtains on the windows.
I like how the light makes a pattern on the curtain.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Indeed - I was just making the same observation: never stopped enough to think while I was complaining about shadows before ~ they actually mean there *is* light! This week I had an almost impossible task, as I haven't really seen the sun much :)

What a cool idea! We're in the process of transforming our basement to game/hang out room. Anything to keep family together!

My husband was doing animal figures with his fingures on the wall one morning at breakfast. He thought the would make great shadow pictures! I took me instead outside when there was sun!

Cool idea, of course in FL you can't have basements, they would flood, but I love the idea anyway...And home movies are WAY cheaper than going to the theater....Great post. Thanks.

Oooh, lucky you! Now I know where to take my popcorn :-)

Love the way you intro'd your post, and the play of light on that curtain particularly...one of my favourite shots.

Oh what fun! Our tv is big enough for us. One of my fav retail moments. We went out to choose one specifically on a Sunday so we could see what football looked like on it. Cuz I've always loved football. The sales guy was in the middle of a hard sell I was ignoring when someone else started to play with what channel they were all set to. I stopped the guy and said "it needs to stay on football if I'm gonna buy any of them". He literally took off running to make sure it stayed put lol I bet your "set" has made you smile many a time like that memory just made me :)

Sounds like your place is a great spot to gather. What a cool idea to paint a screen. I enjoyed your interpretation of shadow-play!
