Good News Bad News Good News and Earrings

First the good news.  I finally got my jewelry in a local shop this week!  I know this might be old hat to some of you, but not for me.  It's a small consignment/antique shop downtown.  The owners really have a knack for display and really it's a darling shop.

From left to right: Life is But a Dream, Cheyenne, City Slicker, Silent Night, Sweet Emotion, Sputnik, Marie Antoinette, Just a Drop,  & Drops of Jupiter

Now for the bad news.  It's a consignment shop.  I'm worried people who shop there are looking for things at a cheap price, and honestly my handmade jewelry has not done too well here in this small rural town.  Also, the owners chose to  keep all my earrings, which is a good thing except that I have a show tonight! So I've been frantically making earrings all week .
From left to right: Candy Cane, Holly Berry, Devil in a Red Dress, Red Velvet, Cross My Heart

The good news, I've been making earrings! I was able to knock out 18 earrings, plus I had some already made that just didn't fit in my travel case. It's not the ideal amount for a show, I know, but I'm pretty proud of what I accomplished in just 5 days, especially with everything else I have on my plate.

From Left to right: Glam, Sea of Galilee, Rum Punch, Going Out

So pretty all piled up.  Now I just need to untangle and tag them all.  Ugh, does anyone else dislike photographing, pricing, and tagging too?????

Thanks for stoppping by, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

P.S. remind me to change my blog header please. :)

Congrats on getting your work in a shop! I love all of the new earrings that you created to replace what they took, what a beautiful assortment! I am a photographer and still don't like photographing my jewelry. I find it boring, probably because I have been a photojournalist for 13 years, capturing moments in the communities, so inanimate objects just don't excite me in the same way! But I am thankful for my skills when it does come time to photograph my jewelry! Speaking of, I have 70 pieces that need to be photographed...sigh.

Congratulations. Getting your pieces in a shop? I think that's fantastic!! I love all your new earrings, Rum Punch is so much fun - I can just feel them swing!

It is a good problem to have! You are in demand so keep on going! I have the same problem. I don't really have much lying around to be sold as it is all tied up in galleries. And they are all consignment. It is hard no knowing, but I have to trust the gallery owners will do their best to sell it all. And I am starting to tweak what I send to places based on their clientele and what has sold in the past. It is a learning process but you will get it! And never apologize for your prices. Don't back down. If it doesn't work in this town there is another gallery/boutique. That is how I found my most lucrative one that is 3 hours north and I have never visited. Yet they sell out of all my nature inspired designs. Congratulations! Enjoy the day. Erin

Really all good news, I think, and what a bunch of lovelies, Alice! Really pretty. : ) I share your feelings about photographing things. Once I get my little photo center set up and lighting adjusted to my liking, I'm ready to be done! Sigh...I've got some to do, too. We need a little sprinkle of fairy dust! :)

Congratulations!! So happy for you! And I echo what Erin said -- don't ever feel badly about your prices. Don't ever undercut yourself, but trust that you will find the perfect place for your work to sell. If the owner took all of your earrings, she must think they're a good fit, since she's got a good idea of her clientele. Good luck on all of it!

I feel your pain, but the new earrings are gorgeous! Congratulations on getting into the consignment store too! I'm going through a lot of similar growing pains, but trust that we will both discover what works. Happy holidays and best wishes for lots of sales! :) Robyn
